The live-action film adaptation of Look Back was announced on December 3rd. It will be released in 2026, and the director will be Hirokazu Kore-eda.

Look Back is a comic by Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator behind Chainsaw Man. It was originally released as a long one-shot work on "Shonen Jump+" on July 19, 2021, with the collected comic volume released on September 3 of the same year. It topped the Male category of "Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2022" (This Manga is Amazing! 2022), a manga guide published by Takarajimasha, and has also been adapted into an anime film, which was released in 2024.

The decision to release a live-action film was revealed via an announcement within the 222nd chapter of Chainsaw Man, which was released on "Shonen Jump+" on December 3rd. Simultaneously, a teaser site was launched, making it clear that Hirokazu Kore-eda will handle the direction, script, and editing.

Mr. Kore-eda is a highly acclaimed film director and screenwriter both in Japan and internationally. His major representative works include Nobody Knows, Like Father, Like Son, and Our Little Sister. In 2018, he won the Palme d'Or, the highest prize at the 71st Cannes Film Festival, for his film Shoplifters, cementing his worldwide fame.

The teaser site has revealed two visuals, but both are shots where the characters' faces are not visible, meaning the cast is currently unknown.
