――Now, I would like to ask you all to look back on the first half of the 'Shibuya Incident' arc. The first major event was the sealing of Gojo—what were your thoughts on that development?
Tsuda:I thought, 'It's bad news that Gojo is gone' (lol).
Uchida:Exactly. As long as he's around, you can hold on to the feeling that 'we'll be fine.'
Tsuda:There was a feeling of unease now that an absolute presence was gone.
Enoki:Since the power balance collapses significantly when Gojo is sealed, I thought that the battles for the individual characters would also intensify. However, I personally viewed that development with a relatively calm eye, thinking that it might also be the point where the story becomes more interesting. With the overwhelming powerhouse gone, we would see everyone exerting all the strength they possess to fight.
Uchida:Even after being sealed, Gojo was still laughing, saying, 'Well, I guess it’ll work out.' I thought, 'Is this really the time to be laughing?' but it showed that even sealed, Satoru Gojo is still Satoru Gojo. Compounded by his attitude, I didn't truly feel like he was gone, but his absence led to one major disaster after another. So, I believe it truly was a huge incident for Fushiguro and the others.
Tsuda:At first, I thought, 'Still, though...' (lol). I figured he would show up at a crucial moment. But since there was absolutely no sign of him returning, I realized how amazing Gege Akutami-sensei is. Rendering the ultimate trump card inactive is a development unheard of in previous shonen manga. I felt it was shonen manga for a new era, and it made me truly realize what an incredible work he is creating.
