"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime work based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It is a major hit that has also been adapted into manga serialized in two monthly magazines. The series gained tremendous popularity and became a hot topic for its mystery-solving narrative featuring Maomao working as a "poison taster" in the rear palace, as well as the comical exchanges between Maomao and Jinshi. The TV anime has aired through its second season, with the third season announced to be broadcast in a split two-cour format starting in October 2026 and April 2027. Additionally, the series' first theatrical film is scheduled for release in December 2026.
