Hatsune Miku Cosplay: The Focus Was on "Cyber and Glossy Nails"

The "Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Fest 2025" was held from October 24 to 26, 2025. We featured photos of Takanai-san, who participated in cosplay as Hatsune Miku, and interviewed her about the points she wanted to express through her cosplay and what cosplay she would like to try in the future.

——What inspired you to cosplay as Hatsune Miku this time?

Takanai-san (honorifics omitted hereafter): Because among all the characters I've cosplayed so far, this is the character I've cosplayed the most, and the one I have the strongest attention to detail for.

——What aspects did you want to express through this cosplay?

Takanai: Using "Hatsune Miku Project DIVA" as my main reference, I particularly focused on the wig and nails this time. In order to recreate the distinctive M-shaped bangs and hair volume that are characteristic of 2D style and maintain their shape, I teased the hair all the way to the twin-tail sections. I absolutely love Hatsune Miku's nails, so I finished them with cyber and glossy nails.

——Please tell us when and how you first encountered Miku-san, and what parts you find appealing.

Takanai: I first learned of her existence when I was in kindergarten. After that, I began listening to Vocaloid music regularly, but it was after playing "Project DIVA X HD" and "Project DIVA extend" that I became captivated by the "old Hatsune Miku" from around the early days. The Vocaloid cosplays I do also aim to recreate the old Vocaloids as I imagine them.
