Manga 'PSYREN' Confirmed for Anime Adaptation After 15 Years! Set to Air in 2026, Produced by Satelight, Known for 'Aquarion' and 'Macross'

The TV anime adaptation of 'PSYREN', a psychic battle suspense manga by Toshiaki Iwashiro that was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (published by Shueisha) from 2008 to 2010, has been confirmed. Broadcasting will begin in 2026.

The series has maintained strong popularity even approximately 15 years after its conclusion, having been nominated three times for AnimeJapan's voting project "Manga Ranking We Want to See Animated."

Prior to the announcement, a website with the URL "https://psyren-anime.com/" that evoked the series had been published, and based on the mysterious countdown, telephone ringtones, and images of a park at night with a public telephone, fans had been speculating "Could this be an anime adaptation?" The official information has now been released.

Alongside the announcement, a teaser visual and the first teaser PV have been released. The visual depicts a desolate world with an ominous tower rising up, featuring the protagonist Ageha Yoshina holding a red telephone card, the heroine Sakurako Amamiya wielding a sword, and a public telephone—an iconic item symbolizing the series—creating an illustration with a serious atmosphere.

Additionally, the PV is composed of live-action footage, impressively showing a telephone booth emerging in the night, while the cityscape overlaps with concept art from the series, creating imagery that evokes the series as if the real world and another world are intersecting.

The main staff and cast have also been revealed. The director is Katsumi Ono, who has worked on the Symphogear series and others. Series composition will be handled by Shin Yoshida, character design by Akira Okuma, music by Takashi Ohmama, Tatsuhiko Saiki, and Shu Kanematsu, and animation production will be handled by Satelight, which has produced the Aquarion series and Macross series.
