Picture Book "Pan Dorobō" TV Anime Adaptation Announced, Broadcasting to Begin on NHK E-television in October 2026

The anime adaptation of "Pan Dorobō" has been confirmed and is scheduled to broadcast on NHK E-television starting in October 2026.

This work is an anime based on the hugely popular picture book "Pan Dorobō" (published by KADOKAWA) by Keiko Shibata, which has surpassed 5 million copies in cumulative circulation for the series. A humorous picture book perfect for read-aloud sessions, a single shadow swiftly darts out from the town's bakery. A bread carrying bread runs away. The charming and lovable Pan Dorobō causes incidents again today.

In conjunction with this announcement, a teaser PV and teaser visual have been released. The visual depicts the character carrying bread and running away, accompanied by the catchphrase "Running again today in search of delicious bread." The teaser PV released on YouTube allows viewers to see the moving "Pan Dorobō" for the first time.

The production staff has also been announced, with Takahiko Kyōgoku, who worked on "Eiga Crayon Shin-chan Gekitotsu! Rakuga Kingdom to Hobo Yonin no Yūsha" and the TV anime "Love Live!" series, serving as director. Character design will be handled by Mako Miyako, and series composition by Mariko Mochizuki. Animation production will be undertaken by Shin-Ei Animation, which has created many masterpieces such as the "Doraemon" series and "Pui Pui Molcar."

Additionally, to commemorate the anime adaptation, an official website and SNS accounts including official X have been established, and participation in the "2026 Sapporo Snow Festival" held in Sapporo City, Hokkaido has been confirmed. During the period from February 4 to 11, 2026, a snow sculpture of "Pan Dorobō" is scheduled to appear at Odori Site 11-chome in Sapporo City.
