The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotoge, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2016 to 2020. The story is set in the Taisho era and depicts the battles of Tanjiro, a boy whose family was killed by demons.
The TV anime "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc," which began airing in April 2019, quickly became a hot topic, and the sequel film "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train" surpassed 50 billion yen in global box office revenue. The original manga has surpassed 220 million copies in worldwide cumulative circulation, becoming a mega-hit that will remain in the history of Japanese manga and anime.
Following the "Unwavering Resolve Arc," the TV anime broadcast the "Entertainment District Arc," "Swordsmith Village Arc," and "Hashira Training Arc," and it was announced that "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Castle," which covers the final episodes, will be produced as a trilogy. "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Castle Chapter 1: Akaza's Return" has been in theaters since July 18, 2025, and in November it was announced that the global box office revenue had surpassed 106.3 billion yen. Since November 1, 2025, the Aniplex channel on YouTube has been releasing character commercials using footage from the film for eight consecutive weeks.
