The "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotouge, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 2016 to 2020. It is a story set in the Taisho era depicting the battles of Tanjiro, a boy whose family was killed by demons.
The TV anime "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc" that started broadcasting in April 2019 immediately became a hot topic, and the sequel "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train" surpassed 50 billion yen in total worldwide box office revenue. The original manga's total worldwide circulation exceeded 220 million copies, becoming a mega-hit that will remain in Japanese manga and anime history.
Following "Risshibi-hen," the TV anime broadcast "Entertainment District Arc," "Swordsmith Village Arc," and "Hashira Training Arc," and "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle," which covers the final episodes, has been announced to be produced as a trilogy. "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle Chapter 1: Akaza Sairai" has been showing since July 18, 2025, and in November, it was announced that the worldwide total box office revenue exceeded 106.3 billion yen. Character commercials using footage from the movie have been released for 8 consecutive weeks starting November 1, 2025, on the Aniplex channel on YouTube.
