"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime adaptation based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It's a mega-hit work that has also been adapted into manga in two monthly magazines and a manga app. The mystery drama featuring Maomao, who ends up working as a "poison taster" in the rear palace, and the comical exchanges between Maomao and Jinshi became popular and garnered significant attention. The TV anime has been broadcast up to its second season, and the third season has been announced for a split two-cour broadcast starting in October 2026 and April 2027. Additionally, the series' first theatrical film is scheduled for release in December 2026. Starting in November 2025, "The Apothecary Diaries" TV anime exhibition will tour various cities in Asia, and its popularity continues to grow worldwide.
