"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime adaptation of the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It's a mega-hit that has also been adapted into manga in two monthly magazines and a manga app. The series became a huge topic of conversation, with its popularity stemming from the mystery-solving by Maomao, who works as a "poison taster" in the rear palace, and the comical interactions between Maomao and Jinshi. The TV anime has aired through Season 2, and Season 3 has been announced for a split two-cour broadcast starting in October 2026 and April 2027. Additionally, the series' first theatrical film is scheduled for release in December 2026.
