Adding to the buzz is the mystery surrounding Deux’s gender. Between the use of the masculine "boku" pronoun, an androgynous vibe, and Gates’ completely nonchalant reaction, fan speculation is at an all-time high. The fact that Deux is a Cyber-Newtype only adds more fuel to the fire.

However, the excitement is being tempered by a growing sense of dread. Cyber-Newtype, Psycho Gundam, and Bask Om as a superior—this is a combination that has fans saying, "I have a bad feeling about this" and "Is that a world record for the most death flags?" It has evoked that classic Gundam fan dilemma: "I want to stan them, but I’m terrified of what’s coming next."

For a debut episode, Deux Murasame has truly rattled the fans' emotions. While the fate of the Kycilia plot and the Psycho Gundam are certainly priorities, for Episode 6, that one brief changing scene walked away with everything.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is the latest entry in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise that began in 1979. The story follows Amate Yuzuriha, a high school girl living a peaceful life in a space colony, who gets swept up in "Clan Battles"—an illegal Mobile Suit dueling competition—after a chance encounter with a girl named Nyaan.

The series has garnered significant attention as a co-production between Studio Khara (known for the Rebuild of Evangelion series) and Sunrise. The theatrical preview version, released in January of this year ahead of the TV broadcast, was a massive hit, grossing approximately 3.4 billion yen. Its popularity has spread globally, with a re-screening in 368 theaters across Japan in June 2025 and a special event held at North America’s largest anime convention, "Anime Expo 2025."
