"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime adaptation of the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It's a mega-hit that has also been adapted into manga in two monthly magazines and a manga app. The mystery drama featuring Maomao working as a "food taster" in the rear palace, as well as the comical exchanges between Maomao and Jinshi, gained popularity and became a major topic of conversation. The TV anime has aired through Season 2, with Season 3 announced to air in split two-cours starting in October 2026 and April 2027. Additionally, the series' first theatrical film is scheduled for release in December 2026. The TV anime "The Apothecary Diaries" exhibition will tour Asian cities starting in November 2025, demonstrating the series' continuously growing worldwide popularity.
