"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It's a mega-hit series that has also been adapted into manga in two monthly magazines and a manga magazine app. The series gained tremendous popularity and became a major topic of discussion for its mystery drama featuring Maomao working as a "poison taster" in the rear palace, as well as the comical interactions between Maomao and Jinshi (CV: Takeo Ōtsuka). The TV anime has been broadcast up to season 2, and season 3 has been announced for a split two-cour broadcast starting in October 2026 and April 2027. Additionally, the series' first theatrical film is scheduled for release in December 2026. Starting in November 2025, "The Apothecary Diaries" TV anime exhibition will tour various cities in Asia, as the series continues to grow in popularity worldwide.
