The official X account for the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" released a countdown illustration on January 13th in anticipation of Season 2's broadcast start, and the unique depiction of the character has become a major topic of conversation among fans.
The post announced "3 days until 'Frieren: Beyond Journey's End' Season 2 broadcast begins," building excitement for the broadcast starting at 11 PM on Friday, January 16th. The "Broadcast Start Countdown Illustration" revealed this time was created by Keiichiro Saito, who served as director for Season 1 and is participating as director coordinator for Season 2.
The illustration depicts Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki) in a "fresh from the bath" style, with a towel wrapped around her head and a bath towel wrapped around her body. She strikes a pose with her hand on her hip, boldly gulping down a bottled beverage, with multiple Frierens in the same pose lined up side by side, creating a characteristically surreal yet adorable composition.
"Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is an anime adaptation based on the manga of the same name by Kanehito Yamada (original story) and Tsukasa Abe (artwork). It depicts the story of Frieren, a mage from the hero's party that defeated the Demon King, who embarks on a journey to "understand people" following the death of the hero Himmel (CV: Nobuhiko Okamoto). Season 1, which aired from 2023, received high praise both domestically and internationally for its delicate psychological portrayals, beautiful visual expressions, and emotional story development. The highly anticipated Season 2 will depict new encounters and battles on her journey.
Fans have responded to this post with excitement and anticipation, commenting "Frieren drinking milk is cute," "Frieren fresh from the hot spring," "You can't show Himmel such a stimulating sight!" and "I'm looking forward to it."
