Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle to Screen in IMAX Special Edition, a First in Japanese Anime History, Starting February 6

It has been announced that "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle Chapter 1: Akaza Returns" will screen in an "IMAX Special Edition," a first in Japanese anime film history, starting February 6.

"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" is the latest series installment based on the original manga by Koyoharu Gotoge, with animation production by ufotable. It depicts the story of a young boy, Tanjiro Kamado, whose family was killed by demons, as he fights as a member of the Demon Slayer Corps to turn his demon-transformed sister, Nezuko, back into a human. Beginning with the 2019 TV anime "Tanjiro Kamado: Unwavering Resolve Arc," the series continued with "Mugen Train Arc," "Entertainment District Arc," "Swordsmith Village Arc," and "Hashira Training Arc," and the theatrical release finally opens the decisive battle at the "Infinity Castle."

The newly announced "IMAX Special Edition" adopts IMAX's unique "1.43:1" expanded aspect ratio. In select scenes, the image extends vertically, creating a viewing experience with the world's highest level of immersion. This is a first for Japanese anime films, and it will be released at two theaters: Grand Cinema Sunshine Ikebukuro (Tokyo) and 109 Cinemas Osaka Expocity (Osaka).

Additionally, starting January 23, the trailer for this special edition is scheduled to begin screening at participating theaters, with some exceptions. Furthermore, it has been decided that as an IMAX screening-exclusive admission bonus, "IMAX Visual Illustration Boards" (A5 size) will be distributed starting February 6. This will be a limited distribution to a total of 100,000 people nationwide.
