The anime "You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends!" is based on the manga of the same name by Shinya Misu. It is a romantic comedy centering on a love triangle between "Eiyū" (Yonousuke Sakai), Shio Minamo, and Akari Hiodoshi.

Synopsis:
Eiyū is caught by Shio and Akari with his hidden collection of the rom-com manga "My Childhood Friend is Way Too Cute." The next day, fearing they'll definitely make fun of him, he acts coldly toward Shio. Feeling down, Shio is told by Akari to "just be assertive," so she decides to ambush Eiyū in the gym storage room during his cleaning duty to recreate the "Forbidden Gym Storage" chapter from the manga. However, Shio falls asleep and finds herself locked in the gym storage room all alone...
