It has been decided that the TV anime "Nippon Sangoku" will begin broadcasting in April 2026. Along with this announcement, the teaser visual, first teaser trailer, and main cast and staff information have been released.

This work depicts the story of a young man named Aoteru Misumi, who aims to reunify Japan in the near future after civilization has collapsed and the country has split into three nations, once again becoming a warring states period. The original work is a manga by Ikka Matsuki, serialized on Shogakukan's comic app "Manga ONE" and web comic site "Ura Sunday," with cumulative series sales exceeding approximately 700,000 copies.

The released teaser visual features an impressive finish with the protagonist Aoteru Misumi's dignified back view holding a fan. The animation production is handled by Studio Kafka, which worked on "The Ancient Magus' Bride SEASON 2" and other projects, with Kazuaki Terasawa as director, and Takahiko Abiru serving as character designer and chief animation director.

It has been decided that the main cast will include Kensho Ono playing the protagonist Aoteru Misumi, Asami Seto as Saki Higashimachi, Takashi Nagasako as Denki Taira, and Megumi Han handling the narration, with comments released from all.

Ikka Matsuki's Comment
The Romance of the Three Kingdoms that this work is modeled after has both "official history" and "romance." "Official history" is a document recording the history of the Three Kingdoms period, while "romance" is a popular historical novel set in the Three Kingdoms period. The contributions that "romance" made to later generations are great, and thanks to works born from "romance," I was able to learn about the history of the Three Kingdoms period and fall deep into that rabbit hole. In this work, if we presumptuously consider the original manga as "official history," then this anime Nippon Sangoku takes the position of "romance." For those who already love the original work, I want you to experience the positive adaptations and interpretations not recorded in "official history," the dynamic direction that can never be felt in "official history," the colorful art, and the powerful performances created by the voice actors. And for those who are touching this work for the first time through this anime Nippon Sangoku and come to love it, I would be delighted if you would pick up and read the "official history." Just as comparing "official history" and "romance" and discussing among fans is one of the real pleasures of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, I hope that this work will be loved by many people across boundaries.

Kensho Ono (Aoteru Misumi role) Comment
I'm Kensho Ono, and I will be playing Aoteru Misumi in the TV anime "Nippon Sangoku." I've been a huge fan of the original work for a long time, so I feel very honored to be able to participate. "Nippon Sangoku" is a Japanese version of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, yet set in the near future with modern language. And the power of the work to draw you into its world view is simply amazing. It's also exhilarating to watch Aoteru Misumi break through situations by utilizing his knowledge. I will approach this with the aim of fully expressing the charm of such a work and characters in the anime as well. The director and all the cast members are very fired up. Please look forward to the broadcast.

Asami Seto (Saki Higashimachi role) Comment
Saki Higashimachi is someone who quickly recognizes Aoteru's hidden talent and has the strength to push him forward, while also becoming a place of comfort and belonging for him due to her honest personality. I cherished performing Saki's charm, who has a core and also possesses an emotional side. Please witness Aoteru's story of "reunifying Japan."

Takashi Nagasako (Denki Taira role) Comment
"I am the state!! Dyufufu~ (lol)" I will play the role of "Denki Taira," whose thoughts are unpredictable, while enjoying the gap between eerie comicality and brutal acts through meticulous schemes. "Where will Japan end up?" I would be delighted if you could enjoy this grand story that shakes the soul. Unlike the world view of the work, the studio atmosphere is peaceful itself. Denki Taira will guide you to hell.

Megumi Han (Narration) Comment
While it is a future that is not entirely impossible, it feels like reading through a history book. I came to participate from the position of narrator for this work. When I received the role and script, while wondering if I could handle it, I did my utmost with what I can do now and faced Aoteru Misumi and others, this era, and the people living in it. I would be grateful if you could receive the feelings and ways of life of the people who live, fight, and create here.
