A crossover video featuring popular works has been released on the official Gundam YouTube channel "Gundam Channel," generating significant buzz.
What was released this time is the third installment of the crossover PV series being developed as part of the Gundam series cross-promotion project "Call of Hathaway," which is being conducted to commemorate the release of 'Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe'. This PV project, which has been released daily since January 21st, features crossovers between a selection of eight Gundam series works and the latest film. In the January 23rd release, Suletta Mercury (CV: Kana Ichinose) from 'Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury' appears and intersects with the world of Hathaway Noa (CV: Kenshō Ono).
In the released footage, Suletta's narration overlays scenes of Hathaway boarding the cockpit and intense battle sequences. Along with the words "The will and feelings woven in our era, in the world we live in, move the Gundam," the figures of the two living in different timelines intersect. The video concludes with "And in 2026," followed by a powerful message connecting to January 30th, the release date of the latest work, resulting in a symbolic video that bridges the history and future of the series.
'Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway' is an animated film based on a novel by director Yoshiyuki Tomino. It depicts Hathaway, the leader of the anti-Earth Federation government organization "Mafty," fighting against the corrupt federal government. On the other hand, 'Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury' is a TV series set in an academy, with the story centered on the growth of Suletta, a girl who pilots the Gundam Aerial.
In response to this unique collaboration, fans voiced many comments enjoying the differences in themes between the two works, such as "May salvation come to Hathaway, who seems to lose everything by moving forward when running away gains one thing" and "The two opposites make me laugh (lol)." Additionally, reactions of surprise and joy regarding the cross-series project have been received, including "The era moves from a filially pious Gundam to another unfilial Gundam" and "I'm so happy to hear an announcement from Suletta too."
