Kyoto Animation’s new TV series "Sparks of Tomorrow" premieres July 2026! Set for TV broadcast and exclusive worldwide streaming on Netflix.

Based on the light novel by Hiro Yuki, this series is set in an alternate early 20th-century Kyoto—a world where steam power alone has advanced in place of our known history. The story follows a boy grieving the loss of his brother, with whom he once dreamed of the "Age of Electricity," and a devout girl burdened by both admiration and regret for her late mother. Their encounter marks the beginning of an adventurous tale of wonder.

The worldwide Netflix exclusivity was announced during "Next on Netflix 2026," an event showcasing the platform’s lineup for the year. Along with the announcement, a new global key visual was unveiled. Featuring the protagonist Kihachi Sakamoto and the heroine Inako Momokawa, the visual offers a glimpse into the meticulously crafted background art—one of the series' most anticipated highlights.
