The anime "High School! Kimengumi" is based on a gag manga by Motoei Shinzawa that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (published by Shueisha) starting in 1980. The original work started as "3-nen Kimengumi" and was retitled "High School! Kimengumi" as the characters advanced in their education. It's a gag anime depicting the unpredictable school life of unique groups such as Kimengumi centered around Rei Ichidō and others, along with "Honegumi," "Irootokogumi," "Udegumi," and "Bangumi."
