The official X account for "The Apothecary Diaries" anime has released a new visual for February, "Butterbur Sprouts × Maomao and Luomen," as part of the "Maomao and Jinshi's Journey Through the Four Seasons" project, and it has been generating buzz.

The account posted the image with the caption, "Every 22nd, Maomao Day, we present a new visual <Chapter 2> themed around seasonal plants!" along with the words "Maomao gently reaching out to the butterbur sprouts that have just begun to emerge" and "An image that makes you feel the warmth of spring." The released illustration depicts Maomao curiously and gently reaching out to butterbur sprouts emerging from the ground, with her adoptive father Luomen standing behind her, leaning on his cane with a gentle smile as he watches over her.

"The Apothecary Diaries" is an anime work based on the light novel of the same name by Hyuganatsu. It is a massive hit that has also been adapted into manga serialized in two monthly magazines and a manga magazine app. The series became a major topic of conversation with its popularity stemming from Maomao's mystery-solving as she works as a "poison tester" in the rear palace, as well as the comical interactions between Maomao and Jinshi (CV: Takeo Ōtsuka). The TV anime has aired up to its second season, and a third season has been announced for broadcast in a split two-cour format starting in October 2026 and April 2027. Additionally, the series' first theatrical film is scheduled for release in December 2026.
