[Photos/Images] What's With the Mysterious Space... Dejected-Faced "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" Surreal Original Illustration Sandwiched Between Fern and Methode Sparks "Frieren of the Margins lol" 1st

Following the broadcast of episode 35 of the anime, an original illustration by illustrator Abe Tsukasa was released via the official X account for the "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" manga, becoming a hot topic.

The released image depicts three characters: Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki), Methode (CV: Reina Ueda), and Fern (CV: Kana Ichinose). The composition shows Methode gently leaning close and Fern firmly holding Frieren in place. Frieren, sandwiched between these two beautiful women, has a dejected expression, and the three are positioned compactly in the center of the image, with a large "margin" of empty space surrounding them, creating a very surreal and distinctive piece.

"Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is based on the manga of the same name with story by Kanehito Yamada and art by Abe Tsukasa. Set in a world after the defeat of the Demon King, it depicts the journey of Frieren, an elven mage who has lived for over a thousand years, as she embarks on a "journey to understand people" following her parting with the former hero Himmel (CV: Nobuhiko Okamoto) and others. It is a post-journey fantasy that depicts her growth through encounters with new companions while intersecting with memories of the past.

In response to this post, fans have shared reactions such as "Fern's intense same-character-fan rejection," "Frieren of the margins lol," and "Methode is definitely Sein's type of lady." Additionally, comments like "Good for you. This time you're sandwiched between two beautiful women lol" were also posted. This references a previously released original illustration from the "mine" episode, where Frieren was being dragged away by two burly men holding her on both sides as collateral for debt, drawing laughter from fans as a contrast to that surreal situation.
