"A pervert really is making this" and other rave reviews flooding in! Director Hideaki Anno's meticulous retake instructions for Asuka's inguinal area and more become a hot topic in "Evangelion"

Studio Khara Inc., which handles the production of "Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition," posted three images on their official X account with words from Director Hideaki Anno, the company's president, saying, "Some of the retakes I was proposing to Director Asano. (According to our company president)"

The images show detailed correction instructions written in red and green pen on Asuka's animation drawings. Particularly for Asuka in her plug suit, instructions to add shading can be seen around the inguinal area, such as "Make this area shadow color" and "In shadow color (I want dimensionality)." Furthermore, meticulous notes throughout the details can be confirmed for the plug suit parts and background equipment, including "Add detail," "BL circle," and "About this much."

The "Evangelion" series is an SF anime work that began with the 1995 TV anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and caused a social phenomenon. The final chapter "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time," released in 2021, surpassed 10 billion yen in box office revenue. The short animation that has become a topic this time was screened at the 30th anniversary festival "EVANGELION:30+1" and has been released on Khara's official YouTube channel since March 8th, which marks 5 years since the final chapter's release.
