The official X account of 'Aoashi' has published a celebratory illustration for the anime adaptation by former assistant manga artist Akino Kubonaka, which has become a major topic of discussion.
The published image depicts Aoi Ashito dressed in a blue uniform embracing Ichijo Hana, who is shedding tears with an overwhelmed expression. Surrounding them are numerous spectators positioned with smartphones and single-lens reflex cameras, capturing photos of the two, while confetti dances through the air, creating a distinctive composition filled with enthusiasm and a sense of celebration.
In response to this post, fans from both domestic and international communities have sent numerous reactions of joy and praise, such as "The love for the work comes through and warms my heart," "The illustration is too skillful," "So happy about Aoashi Season 2!," "The illustration of Ashito × Hana is too wonderful," and "Both of them kissing while drenched in sweat is so emotional I saved it."
'Aoashi' is a hugely popular soccer manga by Yugo Kobayashi that has been serialized in "Weekly Big Comic Spirits" (Shogakukan) since 2015 and reached its conclusion with the 40th volume released in August 2025. With cumulative circulation exceeding 25 million copies, it continues to gather strong support even after the series ended. Set in J Youth, the relatable growth of protagonist Aoi Ashito and realistic soccer depictions have become a hot topic, capturing the hearts of a wide range of audiences including not only anime fans but also sports fans. The TV anime's first season aired from April to September 2022, and Season 2 is scheduled to air from October 2026.
