[Photos/Images] "This Illustration Is Too Painful After Seeing That Final Moment" - ED Card-Style Illustration of Revolte and Yun from "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" Sparks Reaction: "Demons Have Stories Too" 1st

An ED card-style illustration for Season 2 Episode 36 "A Noble End" was published on the official X account for the "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" anime, sparking widespread discussion.

This episode depicted the deadly battle between Genau (CV: Tarusuke Shingaki) and Revolte (CV: Shinichiro Miki). When Genau was about to deliver the finishing blow to Revolte, Yun (CV: Tsukino Chikasada), one of Revolte's subordinates, approached disguised as a human child. The moment Genau, mistaking Yun for a child, moved to protect them, Yun stabbed Genau in the abdomen with a blade. "I did it! I did it, Lord Revolte! Praise me," Yun rejoiced, but in that very moment, Genau severed Yun's torso in two with his wing. As Yun faded away, Revolte spoke to them, saying "Well done. You served nobly," in a shocking turn of events.

In the illustration by Koki Fujimoto released this time, in stark contrast to the tragedy of the main story, a peaceful scene is depicted where Revolte is lifting Yun with both hands, attempting to place them on his shoulder. Set in soft, gentle colors, the illustration captures Yun innocently extending their arms and Revolte's back as he receives them, creating a bittersweet yet beautiful piece that hints at the unknown bond between the two that couldn't be fully told in the main story.

In response to this post, fans have flooded in with comments reflecting on the demons' ecology and the characters' emotions, such as "Revolte really cared about Yun. He's putting them on his shoulder. Demons have stories too..." and "Even demons have parents, siblings, and loved ones, after all." Additionally, many heartfelt comments have been posted about the poignancy brought by the illustration, including "This illustration is too painful after seeing that final moment" and "What a beautiful piece. I imagine these two must have pure hearts..."
