It won the "Japan Character Award 2022" and went on to claim the Grand Prize for two consecutive years at the "Japan Character Award 2024" and "Japan Character Award 2025." The gap between the small, cute characters and their harsh, unforgiving world has gained widespread popularity among everyone from adults to children, with followers now surpassing 4.61 million.
The anime "Chiikawa" is currently broadcasting within the Fuji TV network's "Mezamashi TV" every Tuesday and Thursday at around 7:36 AM. Furthermore, the first-ever "Chiikawa" theatrical movie, "Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island," is scheduled to be released on July 24, 2026.
