"Though I Am an Inept Villainess" Anime to Broadcast on TV Tokyo Network from July 2026! 1st PV & Additional Cast Including Makoto Furukawa Revealed

It has been announced that the TV anime for "Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court" will begin broadcasting on the TV Tokyo network in July 2026. Along with this announcement, the first PV featuring the premiere of the anime's footage has been released, alongside information on four additional cast members, including Makoto Furukawa and Yuichiro Umehara.

This highly popular, multi-award-winning series features a novel by Satsuki Nakamura (author) and Kana Yuki (illustrator) published under "Ichijinsha Novels," with a manga adaptation by Ei Ohitsuji serialized in "Monthly Comic ZERO-SUM." Set in the "Maiden Court"—a place where future consorts are trained—the story depicts an inner-palace "body swap" reversal drama between two polar-opposite girls.

The four additional cast members revealed this time are Makoto Furukawa as Ei Gyomei, Yuichiro Umehara as Shin'u, Hana Hishikawa as Riirii, and Farahnaz Nikray as Kō Tōsetsu. Comments have also arrived from each of the cast members.

◆Makoto Furukawa (as Ei Gyomei)
I will be voicing Ei Gyomei. While it's certainly a challenge to vocally express both his deep emotional strength and the heavy burden of his position, it's incredibly fun to experience this story from the perspective of a guy who gets completely dragged around by Reirin and Keigetsu. It's a series I definitely want you all to experience in animation. Thank you for your support.

◆Yuichiro Umehara (as Shin'u)
This is a refreshing series that showcases the strength of its female characters and the friendships they foster. I'm delighted to play Shin'u, one of the men who stand by their side. He is a loyal retainer who keeps order in the inner palace, a sharp-minded and physically outstanding individual. I will put my absolute all into playing him. I hope you will all enjoy this story of intertwined motives set within the inner palace.

◆Hana Hishikawa (as Riirii)
I'm Hana Hishikawa, and I'll be playing Riirii! I absolutely love Reirin, who bounces back from any adversity with her innate competitive spirit, and I'm truly thrilled to be entrusted with the role of Riirii, who supports her. I'll do my absolute best with lots of love! I would be so happy if we could all watch over everyone living in the world of "Though I Am an Inept Villainess" together. Thanks so much!!

◆Farahnaz Nikray (as Kō Tōsetsu)
I'm Farahnaz Nikray, the voice of Tōsetsu. As Lady Reirin's head court lady, Tōsetsu serves her body and soul with almost too much love; she's calm and collected, but also surprisingly (?) a martial artist. I'm so incredibly happy to play a character with such a huge gap in her personality. Please tune in for the wonderful drama woven by Reirin, Keigetsu, and the surrounding characters involved with them! As a fan myself, I can't wait to see the finished product! I'll be watching it while snacking on Tōsetsu's favorite mooncakes!
