The ukiyo-e woodblock print of "Chainsaw Man The Movie Reze Arc" will be released worldwide simultaneously at 12:00 PM Japan Time on Friday, March 27, on the EC platform "AKIHABARA PREMIUM COLLECTION," which showcases an ultimate collection of works that bring together otaku culture and the Japanese passion for craftsmanship.

"Chainsaw Man" is an anime work based on the hugely popular comic by Tatsuki Fujimoto. It is a dark hero action story depicting Denji, a boy who lives as a Devil Hunter alongside Pochita, the Chainsaw Devil, to repay his late father's debts. After a certain incident, Denji is resurrected as "Chainsaw Man," possessing a devil's heart, and is assigned to the Public Safety Devil Hunter Special Division 4, where he plunges into brutal battles. Currently, Part 2 of "Chainsaw Man" is being serialized on "Shonen Jump+." It has been announced that the next installment, Chapter 232, to be distributed on March 25, will be the final chapter.

First Ukiyo-e Woodblock Print of "Chainsaw Man"

This project is an ukiyo-e woodblock print work that fuses the world of "Chainsaw Man" with the masterpiece "Tsuzoku Suikoden Goketsu Hyakuhachinin no Hitori Rori Hakucho Chojun" by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, a brilliant ukiyo-e artist from the late Edo period.

Zhang Shun, as depicted in the original work, is expressed as a heroic figure who moves freely through water with dynamic energy. The composition, which shows him cutting through raging waves with exaggerated muscles and power surging through his entire body, represents the pinnacle of Kuniyoshi's dramatic direction. In this collaboration, the dynamism of blood splatter and water spray is likened to the battle with the Typhoon Devil in the film, creating the image of a new hero.

Edo-period heroic tales and modern dark heroes. The exaggerated physical expressions and excessive energy depicted by Kuniyoshi have a surprisingly high affinity with "Chainsaw Man." The delicate colors achieved through traditional ukiyo-e carving and printing techniques, and the sharp tension created by the chainsaw blade. A new dark hero image is born within the traditional Japanese expression of ukiyo-e.
