A newly drawn illustration of Himmel by the series' artist, Tsukasa Abe, has been released on the official Frieren: Beyond Journey's End X account, sparking a massive emotional response from fans.
In Episode 37 of the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Frieren’s party accepts a request to find "Himmel’s Autobiography," which is said to be resting within an island monastery. Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki) recalls that the Hero Himmel (CV: Nobuhiko Okamoto), with whom she once traveled, had lost an unfinished notebook during their journey and had been searching for it. It appears that this notebook became a legend and remained in the monastery. Upon exploring the site and discovering the notebook, they find it filled with "trivial daily moments of their journey" written from Himmel’s perspective.
The released image is an illustration newly drawn by Tsukasa Abe, posted with the message, "Thank you for watching Episode 37." It depicts Himmel holding a large quill to his lips with a slightly pensive gaze. The piece is characterized by delicate line work and soft light-blue and green hues, creating an impression of a quiet, beautiful moment as if he is pondering what to record in his notebook.
In response to this illustration, which perfectly captures the mood of the story, fans flooded the post with comments of emotion and praise, such as: "The diary scene was so moving...", "I bet he wrote a lot about Frieren in that autobiography. And probably a collection of his cool catchphrases," "I love how Himmel was always thinking of his comrades and wanting to leave memories for the future," and "Himmel is so cool!"
