Shigeru Miyamoto: "Characters are Explored Even Deeper Than the First Film" — "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" World Premiere at Kyoto Minamiza

An ecstatic Jack Black added, "Just being a part of the Mario world is the best. Strangely, I feel like I was born to play this role." He continued with plenty of humor: "I owe a huge debt to Mr. Miyamoto. If he wants me to sing at a party, I’ll do it. Wedding singer, whatever he needs, I’m there." He closed by energetically shouting in Japanese, "Mite ne! Mite ne! Mite ne!" (Please watch it!), which drew a huge cheer from the crowd.

■ Illumination x Nintendo: A Journey of Collaboration

Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri emphasized the bond between the two companies: "The partnership between Nintendo and Illumination is at the heart of why I think this movie is so special. It was a massive responsibility to be given the opportunity to bring these characters, created by Mr. Miyamoto 40 years ago, to life on the big screen." He reflected emotionally, "It has been an incredible journey of collaboration, and to conclude that journey here in Kyoto is beyond wonderful."

Shigeru Miyamoto commented that the atmosphere of Minamiza "perfectly matches Nintendo's image of creativity." Regarding the film, he showed great confidence: "The second film is finally finished. Each character is depicted even more deeply than in the first one. It’s a 90-minute ride where you won't get bored for a second, so please come see it on the big screen with your whole family."

During the pre-screening ceremony, the cast and producers were called onto the stage following a traditional Kōjō (formal announcement) by Kabuki actor Einojo Hayase, accompanied by the sounds of Debayashi (traditional theatrical music). As the full lineup gathered, the hall was filled with thunderous cheers and applause.

Chris Meledandri spoke to the audience: "I have come to realize why Nintendo's works are so loved worldwide. It’s because their creativity is backed by a deep love and obsession for the characters, the fans, and every single detail." He then invited the film's staff and Nintendo’s creative team onto the stage.

Finally, upon being introduced, Miyamoto addressed the crowd: "I hope that after you watch the movie today, the characters will stay with you in many colorful ways. It is finally time for the screening." With the excitement at its peak, the movie began.
