When playing Haibara, Uemura says, "I believe that tackling things one by one with seriousness and sincerity is Haibara’s way of 'redoing' things. Even if he doesn't know how it will turn out, I keep in mind that this sense of sincerity is what makes him who he is."

Why is Haibara able to work so hard to redo his youth that people perceive him as perfect? During the interview, Uemura offered this analysis: "Haibara failed once during his adolescence, but he had ultimately secured a job offer and was facing his life head-on.

I think he always had the power to make choices and take action, but he just happened to fail during that extremely sensitive time of youth. He’s a very resilient and kind boy, so including those traits, he’s able to face this 'second chance' with everything he’s got." This seems to be a definitive answer.

Since Haibara chose the option of redoing his youth after leaping through time, we asked Uemura what he would do if he were sent back to the moment just before starting high school.

"I'd want to see a different landscape, so I think I'd try a different route. I think going toward the unknown is more interesting for the sake of experience, even if I don't know how my life would turn out," he replied.

"As you become an adult, the unknown becomes more attractive. I think entering a new world allows you to find new sides of yourself," he concluded. This sentiment overlaps with Haibara, who works tirelessly to turn his gray world into one of rainbows.

If you could redo your high school life, what choices would you make? We hope you enjoy "Haibara's Teenage New Game+," where Haibara and the other characters face their youth head-on while prompting you to reflect on your own journey.
