On April 8, a special website celebrating the 20th anniversary of FAIRY TAIL's serialization officially opened. Along with the launch, a commemorative video was released and details regarding Hiro Mashima's upcoming autograph tour were unveiled. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that the series will return to Weekly Shonen Magazine this year for a new limited-run serialization, marking 20 years since its original debut.
Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine from Issue 35 in 2006 to Issue 34 in 2017, the series remains a massive hit with a dedicated global fanbase nearly a decade after its conclusion. Its official sequel, FAIRY TAIL: 100 YEARS QUEST, is currently being serialized on the Magazine Pocket (Magapoke) app.
The story is a world-renowned magic battle fantasy set in a "Wizards' Guild" that handles everything from finding lost items to monster hunting. The tale begins when Lucy, a young girl aiming to become a full-fledged wizard, meets Natsu, a wizard who controls fire. He invites her to join his wild and rowdy guild, Fairy Tail, setting their adventures in motion.
On the special site, original creator Hiro Mashima shared a message with fans. "The fact that we can celebrate a manga that ended quite a while ago like this is all thanks to the unwavering support of our readers. We are preparing a lot of new merchandise and events from this year through next year, so please look forward to it! Let's all celebrate the 20th anniversary together! I'm all fired up!" he expressed, sharing his gratitude and excitement for future developments.
Marking its return to Weekly Shonen Magazine as a limited series, the new serialization will start in the combined Issue 36/37, scheduled for release on August 5, depicting a brand-new story woven by Natsu and his friends.
