An image of Anna Yanami (CV: Hikaru Tōno) enjoying karaoke with an onion ring in hand has been released on the official X account for the original Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!, becoming a hot topic among fans.
The post was accompanied by the comment: "April 10th is Aichi’s New Onion Day!"
In the released image, Yanami is seen on the right side of the screen, joyfully singing into a microphone with her eyes narrowed in delight, while holding up an onion ring in her left hand. On the left side, in contrast, Kazuhiko Nukumizu (CV: Shuichiro Umeda) is depicted staring blankly into space with a somewhat exasperated or exhausted expression, sitting before a mountain of onion rings. Despite always talking about dieting because she's concerned about her weight, Yanami is an incredible glutton, and Nukumizu is shown watching over her with a lukewarm gaze. This popular illustration is the frontispiece for the fourth volume of the original light novel and has even been turned into official merchandise.
Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! is a light novel series (Gagaga Bunko) written by Takibi Amamori. It tells a fresh and chaotic "losing-streak" youth story involving the somewhat pitiful "losing heroines" who failed to win the hearts of their crushes, and the protagonist Nukumizu, a background-character high school student. It is a popular work that won the "Gagaga Prize" at the 15th Shogakukan Light Novel Awards.
In response to this post, fans have left various comments mentioning Yanami's gluttonous personality and the local Aichi trivia, such as: "They look so soft and delicious!!", "Wait, I’m talking about the onions, obviously!", "What even is Aichi’s New Onion Day... lol", and "The classic 'I like a girl who eats a lot' vibe."
