“Kowloon Generic Romance” Final Chapter & Last Volume Release: Fans Moved by Teaser Images, “A Development Beyond All Expectations”

The official X account for “Kowloon Generic Romance & After the Rain” has announced that Jun Mayuzuki’s manga “Kowloon Generic Romance” reached its conclusion in the issue of “Weekly Young Jump” (Shueisha) released on April 16, a news that is currently generating significant buzz.

Along with a message of gratitude—“Thank you all so much for your support until the very end”—images featuring the color title page of the final chapter and select pages from the main story were revealed. The color page beautifully depicts the protagonist, Reiko Kujirai, smiling with a cigarette in hand, wearing a bright yellow long coat over a red cheongsam-style inner layer. Subsequent panels show a newspaper article reporting the disappearance of the site of the Second Kowloon Walled City, as well as Miyuki Hebinuma, Yaomay, Tao Nguyen, and Xiaohei discussing the truth behind it. Additionally, the post announced that the 12th and final volume of the manga will be released on April 17.

“Kowloon Generic Romance” is a hit sci-fi mystery romance by Jun Mayuzuki, with a cumulative circulation exceeding 1.8 million copies. It tells the story of Reiko Kujirai, an employee at a real estate agency in the nostalgic district of “Kowloon.” As she finds herself drawn to her senior colleague, Hajime Kudo, she discovers the existence of his former fiancée who looks exactly like her, leading her to uncover the truth alongside the mysteries hidden within the city. The work has also achieved a dual-media adaptation into both a TV anime and a live-action film. The magazine reportedly features congratulatory comments from the lead cast of these adaptations, as well as information regarding new merchandise, specifically a “perfume.”
