"Chiikawa" is a popular manga that illustrator Nagano has been posting on X (formerly Twitter) since 2020. It won the Japan Character Award 2022 and went on to win the Grand Prix for two consecutive years in 2024 and 2025. The gap between the small, cute characters and the harsh reality of their world has gained wide popularity among both adults and children, with the series surpassing 4.62 million followers to date.
The anime "Chiikawa" is currently airing every Tuesday and Thursday around 7:36 AM during Fuji TV's "Mezamashi TV." Additionally, the first-ever feature film, "Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island," is scheduled for release on July 24, 2026.
