On the official X account for the anime "Sound! Euphonium," an illustrated comment by Taichi Ogawa, the director of the theatrical feature "Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie" Part 1—which opened today—has arrived and is causing a stir.
The posted image is a newly drawn illustration of the protagonist, Kumiko Oumae (CV: Tomoyo Kurosawa), by Ogawa himself. It depicts her in her sailor uniform, holding her signature golden euphonium firmly with both hands while smiling gently. At the bottom of the illustration, a vibrant pink handwritten message reads, "Part 1 Now in Theaters!", accompanied by the spirited note, "We're going to make it ring! — Director Taichi Ogawa," along with his signature.
"Sound! Euphonium" is a hit coming-of-age anime series produced by Kyoto Animation, based on the novel by Ayano Takeda. Set in the Kitauji High School Concert Band Club, the story follows Kumiko Oumae and her fellow members as they dedicate themselves to music, growing through conflict and setbacks in pursuit of a gold medal at the national competition—all rendered with breathtaking visual beauty and nuanced characterization. This film, "Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie" Part 1, serves as the culmination of the long-running series and was released in theaters on April 24, with Part 2 set for September 11.
