"The designs are so good I'm shaking"—New Casual, Mode, and Americana illustrations revealed; Umamusume x ZOZOTOWN collaboration creates a massive stir

ZOZOTOWN updated their official X (formerly Twitter) account to reveal three types of specially commissioned illustrations for the "#Umamusume in ZOZOTOWN" project, which has quickly become a hot topic among fans.

As part of this campaign, three different collaboration illustrations by three unique illustrators were released over the course of three days. Each set showcases the Umamusume dressed in distinct fashion themes.

The illustration for the first day was handled by saino. It featured five Umamusume—Agnes Tachyon, Manhattan Cafe, Dantzu Flame, Believe, and Durandal—appearing in casual styles that perfectly accentuated their individual personalities.

On the second day, an illustration by altera was unveiled. The group consisting of Verxina, Gentildonna, Buena Vista, Orfevre, and Dream Journey was dressed in edgy, black-based "Mode" fashion, radiating an overwhelming presence.

The final day’s illustration was created by En Morikura, centered around an "Americana" (Amekaji) theme. The five Umamusume—Satono Diamond, Cheval Grand, Vivlos, Almond Eye, and Chrono Genesis—showcased a fresh charm, sporting varsity jackets, denim, and hoodies.

Fans on social media reacted with immense heat to the series of reveals. Comments on the first day included, "Tachyon looks stunning when she dresses up," and "Everyone is just too cute!" For the second day’s Mode style, many were struck by the powerful aesthetic, with comments like, "The evil organization vibes are incredible" and "The designs are so good I'm shaking."

Furthermore, the third day’s Americana style received high praise for its natural look: "It fits them so perfectly; they look adorable," and "The combination of Americana and Umamusume is so fresh." Overall, the consensus among fans was overwhelmingly positive, with many declaring, "The Umamusume x ZOZOTOWN collab is just the best."

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is a multimedia franchise featuring "Umamusume" (Horse Girls)—beings who inherit the names and souls of real-life racehorses and possess horse ears and tails—as they strive for victory in races. The franchise has expanded across games, anime, music, and manga. Particularly since the release of the mobile game in 2021, it has become a social phenomenon, continuing to captivate fans with the intense drama woven by its diverse cast of characters.
