Is the anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" ending due to "crippling debt"?! In Episode 33, a scene where Frieren (CV: Atsumi Tanezaki) carries a pickaxe and sadly tells her companions, "I ended up having to work in the mines for 300 years," drew big laughs from viewers.

In Episode 33, Frieren was told by President Norm (CV: Akinori Egoshi) to pay back a debt from 80 years ago. She confidently presented gold coins, saying, "Keep the change," but was flatly rejected by the president, who replied, "This is nowhere near enough."

Suddenly, in the next scene, Frieren appeared in humble attire carrying a pickaxe. With a dejected expression, she told Fern (CV: Kana Ichinose) and Stark (CV: Chiaki Kobayashi), "I ended up having to work in the mines for 300 years. My journey ends here, I guess."

Her companions were bewildered by the sudden turn of events. When Fern retorted, "What are you even talking about, Miss Frieren? And what's with that outfit? Where is your bag?", Frieren replied with teary eyes, "It was all taken as collateral for my debt..." Seeing Frieren being led away by brawny men, Stark stood there stunned, muttering, "What are we even supposed to do about this...?"

To think a grand adventure would be cut short for such a reason... Frieren’s melancholy figure sparked a buzz online, with comments like, "The journey is over lol," "Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End—The End," and "The visuals were so shocking, it’s the biggest laugh of the season." Frieren’s signature dejected look also appeared, drawing delighted reactions like, "There it is! The withered face!" and "I loved seeing so many of her moping faces."
