The official X account for "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" has announced that a newly written novel, "The 17 Bunch Incident," will be included in the 4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray + Blu-ray of the theatrical preview version "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-," releasing on Wednesday, May 27. The news is already creating quite a buzz.

According to the official post, this novel is a new work by Yoji Enokido, who handled the series composition and script for the show. The synopsis reveals that the story takes place three years after the end of the war, which concluded with a victory for the Principality of Zeon. A terrorist incident occurs in Side 6's 17 Bunch, involving a group calling themselves the "Red Comet Party." Camran Bloom (Voice: Kazuyuki Okitsu) and Challia Bull (Voice: Shinji Kawada) set out to resolve the crisis. This story will finally unveil the full scope of "The 17 Bunch Incident," a name mentioned by Camran in the main series whose details remained a mystery.

The released cover image features the title "The 17 Bunch Incident" in bold white letters against a black background, with a gritty, distorted texture applied to the text and graphics. The project's green logo is positioned at the top, while credits such as "Author: Yoji Enokido" and "Original Story: Yoshiyuki Tomino, Hajime Yatate" are listed in green text at the bottom left.

"Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" is the first television anime co-produced by Sunrise and Studio Khara. Set in an alternate timeline where the Principality of Zeon won the Independence War, it follows high school student Amate Yuzuriha (nicknamed Machu, Voice: Tomoyo Kurosawa), who lives in a space colony. She pilots the state-of-the-art Mobile Suit, the GQuuuuuuX, into the world of illegal dueling competitions known as "Clan Battles." The series aired from April to June 2025, following a theatrical preview version released in January of the same year.

Fans responded to the post with comments poking fun at or analyzing the name "Red Comet Party," with reactions like "That's hilarious, but couldn't they have come up with a better name? (lol)", "They're not Deikun faction members, are they? Just Char fanboys?", and "Sounds like trouble, definitely a mess." Others expressed excitement over the unexpected choice of protagonist, saying, "Seeing Camran in action is just too heart-pounding! haha."
