"My Dad Was Watching It" Inspired Her to Start Cosplay! A Megumin Cosplay from "Konosuba" Crafted with Meticulous Attention to Detail

"AnimeJapan 2026" was held from March 28th to 29th, 2026. Along with photos of Shiratama, who participated as Megumin from "KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!!", we bring you an interview discussing what inspired her to cosplay as Megumin and her specific attention to detail.

——What inspired you to cosplay as Megumin from "KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!!"?

Shiratama: I fell in love with her because she's a "chunibyo" (eighth-grader syndrome) character but has such a cute personality, plus her funny yet adorable quirk of only being able to cast her Explosion magic once a day made me really want to try cosplaying her! Her look is so cute, and her hairstyle is totally my type!

——What were the specific points you paid close attention to for this cosplay?

Shiratama: I focused heavily on her stiff, upright collar and the bandages around her legs, which are classic chunibyo traits. For the collar, I used clear plastic files to create a thick inner lining so it would stand up perfectly. I made the leg bandages stand upright on their own in a similar way. I also added a zipper on the side so I can put them on and take them off as many times as I want. For the long front sections of the wig, I teased the hair to give it more volume.
