——What points did you want to express through this cosplay, and what are your favorite parts?
sumiya: It's a very subtle point, but the hollows around her eyes (the eye sockets)! If you look closely at her face, they are drawn very distinctly. Compared to other characters, she gave me the impression of having well-defined, chiseled facial features, so I drew sharp, thin shadows to emphasize her natural shading.
I also really like how the wig turned out. Instead of pure black, I chose an exquisite color that looks like a bluish-gray when the light hits it. It's a single long braid, but since the size of the weave varies, I used three different braiding techniques. I used zip ties for the top section, a standard three-strand braid for the middle, and finished the ends with a fishtail braid.
Also, while I wanted to cover my face-line to make my face look smaller, I trimmed the hair around the face so it wouldn't be too voluminous, keeping it faithful to the original design.
——The way you successfully captured the sheerness of the costume while implementing anti-exposure measures was impressive. Could you tell us about the specific details and what you paid attention to?
sumiya: I wore sheer stockings over beige top and bottom undergarments. Her character design is quite daring, suggesting she isn't even wearing underwear under her stockings, so I chose innerwear that wouldn't show any underwear lines or seams, and carefully adjusted the costume.
NIKKE is a gun-girl RPG that captivates players with the characters' backs (or maybe their butts...?), so I figured many photographers would want to take shots from behind. In fact, I got a lot of requests like, "Can I take a photo from behind as you turn around?" Because of that, I made sure no details were missed on the back, put a lot of effort into hiding seams, and ensured her body lines looked beautiful.
——Do you have any announcements about your activities or any cosplays you would like to try in the future?
sumiya: In the future, there are so many characters I want to do, like Mast: Romantic Maid, Scarlet, Liberalio, Helm, and Crown! I also love Evangelion, Vocaloid, and VTubers, so I want to do lots of cosplays!
I pay close attention to how I show skin, my gaze, and my physique to recreate that "heart-stopping atmosphere the moment you see it," so I'd be thrilled if everyone could check out my X account!
