In "Project PRISMation," a project aimed at creating original anime works together with next-generation anime creators, it has been decided that a sequel will be produced for its first title, Poppin-Play Kitchen (Original Concept, Director, Screenplay, Production: Zemyata), following the massive response it received both in Japan and overseas.
"Project PRISMation" is a project that supports creators who release animation works individually or in small, select teams by co-producing pilot films for original anime. It aims to assist in crafting stories that remain in the hearts of viewers and developing creative work that inspires the creators themselves.
The project name is derived from "PRISM" and "Animation," conveying the idea of providing a place where diverse talents gather to shine as an anime work, much like how white light splits into various colors through a prism.
Poppin-Play Kitchen, for which a sequel has now been greenlit, is an original anime pilot film released as the first installment of "Project PRISMation." Created by Zemyata, a Thailand-based creator renowned for their vivid use of color and dark yet pop worldview, this work surpassed 1 million total views on YouTube within 10 days of its release (*1). Its unique worldview attracted immense attention, drawing comments such as "That was thrilling," "The quality is amazing," "The visuals and structure are genius," and "It's wonderful how it's cute and pop yet horror." Along with these, many comments poured in not only from Japan but also from overseas, such as "I've stumbled upon an absolute masterpiece," "Looking forward to what's next," and "I'm glad indie anime is becoming a trend in Japan too." The work was also nominated for the 47th Annual Telly Awards in the People's Telly category.
*1: Surpassed 2.13 million views as of May 14, according to ABEMA research.
In conjunction with the announcement of the sequel's production, a newly drawn visual revealed for the first time has been released, alongside a comment from Zemyata.
Furthermore, "Project PRISMation" has launched its first open call for project proposals to discover next-generation talent to create new stories with. The project is accepting submissions for "original short anime proposals" along with "expansion plans" that outline the future beyond the short.
Projects selected after a rigorous screening process by ABEMA will receive funding for the production of the original short anime, as well as comprehensive support to deliver the work to the world, including promotion and commercial development. There are no eligibility restrictions; anyone can apply regardless of professional or amateur status, age, gender, or nationality. The application deadline is Monday, August 31, at 23:59 (JST).
