The premiere date for the TV anime "Though I Am an Inept Villainess" has been confirmed for Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 23:45. Along with this, a key visual specially drawn by character designer Ai Kikuchi has been unveiled.
The TV anime is based on the work of the same name, which features a novel series published under Ichijinsha Novels by Satsuki Nakamura (author) and Kana Yuki (illustrator), and a manga adaptation currently serialized in Monthly Comic ZERO-SUM by Ei Ohitsuji. Set in the "Sūgū," the palace where the next consorts are trained, the story depicts an inner-palace "body-swap" reversal drama between two completely opposite girls.
The newly released key visual brings together the central characters, Kou Reirin and Shu Keigetsu, alongside other vital figures who color the story, including Ei Gyōmei, Shin-u, Riirii, Seika, Hōshun, and Kasui, effectively expressing their relationships and individual dramas.
The series will begin broadcasting on July 12 across the TV Tokyo Network (TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, TV Setouchi, TV Hokkaido, and TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting).
