An advance screening event for the TV anime "Uchi no Otōto-domo ga Sumimasen" was held on Sunday, May 24 at United Cinemas Aqua City Odaiba.
The main cast members took the stage, including Naomi Ōzora (voicing the protagonist Ito Narita), Toshiki Masuda (voicing the eldest son Gen), Taku Yashiro (voicing the second son Raku), Kenshō Ono (voicing the third son Shū), and Momoka Terasawa (voicing the youngest son Rui). In addition to sharing their thoughts upon landing their roles and discussing the highlights of the series, a succession of latest topics packed with surprises were revealed, including the world premiere of the 2nd PV, the theme songs, and additional cast information.
After the cast greeted the audience, the newly premiered 2nd PV was screened at the venue. A warm atmosphere filled the hall as the footage showed Ito being welcomed as a member of the Narita family and gradually closing the distance between herself and her four unique younger brothers.
Furthermore, it was announced that the opening theme will be "Aikotoba" by DISH// and the ending theme will be "Clover" by Reira Ushio. It was also revealed that Daisuke Ono will play the father of the Narita family, Isao Narita, and Aya Endō will play the mother, Saho Narita. Naomi Ōzora also shared that she had previously co-starred with Endō as mother and daughter, and the cast reminisced about the harmonious atmosphere in the dubbing studio, which mirrored that of the actual Narita family.
As the talk segment about the work continued, there was a moment of buzz in the venue when a staff member suddenly rushed up to the MC. Based on the humorous premise that "the five Narita siblings are 'too cool and cute' and accountability is being demanded," a special segment titled after the series, "Emergency Press Conference: 'I Am Sorry for My OO'!" kicked off. The cast members were tasked with "apologizing" for the charm of their respective characters by stating, "I am sorry for being too OO!"
Ōzora introduced her character Ito, saying, "I am so sorry for being such an emotional rollercoaster!" and described her as "a child like the warm sun, like light." Masuda started off regarding Gen, saying, "I'm sorry for being too much of a gorilla," drawing laughter from the audience before passionately adding, "But he's a really great guy." Furthermore, Yashiro described Raku as "I'm sorry for actually enjoying this," Ono described Shū as "I'm sorry for making people want to cheer for him too much," and Terasawa described Rui as "I'm sorry for being too good at being loved." With each of the five delivering their own unique "apologies," the venue was enveloped in laughter and warm applause.
Addressing the fans in attendance, Ōzora sent a message saying, "This is a work that teaches us about essential kindness and warmth, such as caring for someone and stepping closer to those with different perspectives," and the event concluded amidst a massive round of applause.
The original source material for this work is a hugely popular manga by Akira Ozaki, currently being serialized in "Bessatsu Margaret" (Shueisha), which has surpassed a cumulative total of 3 million copies in circulation. It vividly depicts the communal life under one roof of the protagonist, Ito Narita, who becomes the "older sister" to four unique younger brothers following her mother's remarriage, continuing to captivate readers across a wide range of generations. The TV anime adaptation of "Uchi no Otōto-domo ga Sumimasen" is scheduled to begin broadcasting sequentially on TOKYO MX, BS11, and other networks starting July 3 (Friday) at 24:00 (Midnight), with a substantial volume of 2 consecutive cours spanning a total of 24 episodes.
