It has been announced that the TV anime "From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2," which is scheduled to air starting July 8 on TV Asahi's nationwide network in the "IMAnimation W" block, BS Asahi, and AT-X, will be streamed exclusively worldwide on Prime Video every Thursday at 12:15 AM, starting July 9. Along with this, the ending theme artist who will color the world of this work has been decided as BLUE ENCOUNT, a popular rock band that has performed numerous anime theme songs, and a promotional video utilizing the ending theme song has been released.
"From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman" is an orthodox master swordsman fantasy based on the light novel series created by author Shigeru Sagazaki and illustrator Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. Along with its manga adaptation by Kazuki Satō and two spin-off titles, it is a highly discussed work that has surpassed a cumulative total of 9 million copies in circulation for the series.
The first season of the TV anime, produced based on the original light novels, aired from April 2025 on TV Asahi's nationwide network of 24 stations in the "IMAnimation" block, BS Asahi, and AT-X, and was streamed exclusively worldwide on Prime Video, achieving success by ranking in Prime Video's Top 10 in more than 45 countries and regions worldwide. Furthermore, the first season's story was highly acclaimed at the "Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards 2026" held in Singapore in May 2026, where it won the Storytelling Award, sweeping topics of conversation across the globe.
The ending theme song for the second season has been decided as "Mikansei" (Incomplete) by BLUE ENCOUNT. Vocalist Shunichi Tanabe was in charge of the lyrics and composition. It is an emotional and strongly message-driven song that asks, "What on earth is my reason for being?" precisely because of where he stands now, able to walk thanks to the countless experiences he has accumulated and the comrades he has met. The released promotional video features new cuts where Beryl Gardenant clashes swords with Ficelle Harbeller, a former pupil of his and the ace of the Kingdom's Mage Order. A passionate comment has also arrived from BLUE ENCOUNT.
