It won the "Japan Character Award 2022" and went on to win the Grand Prix for two consecutive years at the "Japan Character Award 2024" and "Japan Character Award 2025." The gap between the small, cute characters and the harsh worldview has garnered widespread popularity among people of all ages, with its follower count surpassing 4.74 million to date.
The anime "Chiikawa" is currently broadcasting every Tuesday and Thursday around 7:36 AM within Fuji TV's "Mezamashi TV." In addition, "Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island," the first theatrical film for "Chiikawa," is scheduled for release on July 24, 2026.
