At TV Asahi, its first short anime brand "PicoAni," which features a large lineup of short anime, will be newly established. In addition, the teaser visuals and teaser PVs for the anime "Josemaru" and the anime "Momomo! Ninimo," which will be broadcast within the "PicoAni" slot, have been unveiled.
"PicoAni" will be a new anime brand that develops and nurtures new characters under a brand name derived from "Pico" (small) + "Anime" (animation). A wide lineup will appear one after another in the future, ranging from anime adaptations of popular characters born on social media, original character works created in collaboration with popular creators, to 3D animated works of characters co-developed with overseas companies. Each character will be promoted through multifaceted approaches such as terrestrial broadcasting, social media, portal sites, and events, with a view toward global expansion.
The logo design for "PicoAni" is formed by a gathering of small puzzle pieces. The catchphrase is "♪Only anime that fits perfectly in a pico-second!" It expresses how sparkling pieces (= short anime) continuously gather to form a movement called "PicoAni." It embodies the desire to deliver content that can be easily enjoyed during spare moments and allows people to encounter their favorite characters, targeting young people, children, and busy modern individuals who are familiar with TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
Adding Two New Broadcast Slots, Expanding to Three Slots in Total
In addition to the broadcast of the short anime "Koupen-chan" (every Sunday at 8:00 AM, TV Asahi network), which is already on the air, two new slots will be newly added.
The slots to be added are the Saturday 4:29 PM slot, which leads into the popular anime "Crayon Shin-chan" (every Saturday at 4:30 PM) and "Doraemon" (every Saturday at 5:00 PM), and the "PicoAniTime" slot every Sunday at 10:00 AM, following the Kamen Rider and special effects (tokusatsu) broadcast slot (both are Kanto local broadcasts). In the future, short anime packed with creators' dedication and charm within a short timeframe will be broadcast across a total of three slots, aiming to broadly promote the brand to the world of "PicoAni" and enhance brand power to increase mid-to-long-term fans.
