Chiikawa is a popular manga that illustrator Nagano has been posting on X (formerly Twitter) since 2020. It won the Japan Character Award 2022, and further won the Grand Prix for two consecutive years at the Japan Character Award 2024 and Japan Character Award 2025. The gap between the small and cute characters and the harsh world-view has garnered wide popularity from adults to children, and the number of followers has surpassed 4.74 million to date.

The anime Chiikawa is currently broadcasting on the Fuji TV network within Mezamashi TV every Tuesday and Thursday around 7:36 AM. In addition, Chiikawa The Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island, which will be the first theatrical film for Chiikawa, is scheduled to be released on July 24, 2026.
