[Photos/Images] Corporal Giroro from "Sgt. Frog" Appears on Trending Black-and-White Potato Chip Bag! Fans Recall Show's Lore: "Come to think of it, I remember he was in charge of key animation." 1st

Voice actor Jōji Nakata updated his X account, posting a photo of a hand-drawn package featuring Corporal Giroro from "Sgt. Frog," a character he voices, along with the comment "My potato chips (^ ^)," which has become a hot topic.

What Nakata shared was an image of a commercially available potato chip package. Currently, some snack foods feature simple, monochrome (plain silver) packaging, and a trend has emerged on social media where people use the conspicuous blank space as a "new canvas" to draw illustrations and customize the bags to their liking. Nakata jumped on this trend, drawing a large picture of Giroro's face with a black pen on the silver surface of the package. The illustration includes a speech bubble saying "Just watch me," and the words "Opening June 26th (Fri)!?" are written at the top, making it a unique post that shows his deep affection for the character he plays.

"Sgt. Frog" is a highly popular anime series based on the manga of the same name by Mine Yoshizaki. It is a sci-fi comedy depicting the chaos caused by Sergeant Keroro, a frog-like alien who came to Earth (Pekopon) to conquer it, and his subordinates. The slapstick daily lives of the members of the Keroro Platoon, who have been forced to live as freeloaders in the Hinata household after their true identities were exposed to humans, have garnered support from a wide audience. Finally, on Friday, June 26th, the highly anticipated new movie, "Sgt. Frog (movie 2026)," will hit theaters.

In response to this post, fans left comments such as, "I love how it's just an ordinary bag of chips but suddenly feels so special," "Giroro potato chips... Nice," and "It's so good and cute, lol." Furthermore, due to the incredibly impressive quality of the illustration, some fans overlaid it with Giroro's actual character in the show, recalling an episode with comments like, "Come to think of it, I remember Giroro was in charge of key animation when the Keroro Platoon made an anime." In addition, regarding the comment about the movie written on the package, there were reactions showing high anticipation for watching it in theaters, such as, "I'm totally going to go imprint Giroro's voice into my brain at the theater!"
