It has been announced that Katsuyuki Konishi will voice Togo Shiba, a veteran sorcerer with a long-standing relationship with the Rokuhira family, in the TV anime "Kagurabachi," which is scheduled to begin broadcasting in April 2027. Along with the announcement, a character visual and a character PV have been unveiled.
"Kagurabachi" is a manga series by Takeru Hokazono, currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump." It depicts the story of the young protagonist, Chihiro Rokuhira, whose father and daily life are taken away by an attack from the mysterious sorcerer organization "Hishaku." Armed with the enchanted blade "Enten" left behind by his father, he sets out on a path of revenge. Animation production will be handled by Cypic.
Togo Shiba, whose cast member was announced this time, is a veteran sorcerer who has a long-standing relationship with the Rokuhira family. Following the death of Kunishige, he helps Chihiro with his revenge. While he has a friendly personality, his true strength is immeasurable. He formerly belonged to Kamunabi, the national sorcerer organization.
In response to this announcement, social media was flooded with joyful comments celebrating Konishi's casting, such as, "I've always played Shiba-san in my head with Konishi-san's voice while reading the manga, so I'm so happy!" "Perfect casting!" "I'm incredibly excited to see Konishi-san's Shiba!" and "This is the perfect role for him!"
■Comment from Katsuyuki Konishi
Impressions of the character and what you focused on during the voice recording:
I felt that Shiba is a character who seems aloof and carefree on the surface, but actually possesses a strong core and inner strength. After discussing with the staff, I made sure not to go too over-the-top with my acting, focusing instead on conveying the calm confidence and composure of someone truly powerful.
Even so, he does some quirky things. I'd be happy if he could serve as a breath of fresh air. On top of that, I hope you can feel just how much he loves the Rokuhira father and son! It's a super difficult role (lol) but a super fun role!!
・Your feelings when you got the role and your enthusiasm for the anime:
I read "Kagurabachi" when the first volume of the manga was released, and I knew I absolutely wanted to be a part of it if it ever got an anime adaptation. Now that my dream has come true, I am deeply moved. I can't wait to see what kind of anime it turns out to be.
・Your first impressions of the work:
The characters and the story are so gritty and cool! It truly felt like watching a movie. And what moved me the most when I read the original manga was the beauty of the goldfish. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they are portrayed in the anime.
・Togo Shiba's greatest charm:
His elusive, hard-to-read demeanor is incredibly cool. His presence—or rather, his way of life—acts as a cushion for this gritty story, making him an indispensable character for this tale of revenge.
・If you were to describe the charm of "Kagurabachi" in a single phrase?
Cinematic revenge sword-fighting action
